About Me
Hello, I am an integrative counsellor meaning I work with a person-centred approach combined with psychodynamic theory.
I believe my personal counselling experience is what enables me to better understand each client’s unique journey and best able to sit alongside another with warmth, compassion an open heart and a listening ear.
A few years ago I found myself deeply unsatisfied with life. I had a stable career in business administration and was a mother with a young child but realised I had lost my direction in life, lacked any real passion, felt lost and was experiencing anxiety and depression. I began seeing a counsellor and embarked upon a journey of self-discovery. As my capacity for resilience, setting boundaries and self-care slowly changed I became more interested in the therapeutic world.
I realised I wanted to sit alongside others in their journeys towards healing so I enrolled on a counselling training course. I completed the two-year, level-4 CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at NWLCT.
Training Qualifications and Experience
I am a registered member of BACP (The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their Ethical Framework. This means I follow their guidance so you will be in safe hands (www.bacp.co.uk)

Personal Approach
My core approach to counselling is integrative. What does this mean?
It means I work with more than one approach. I am trained as a Person-Centred and Psychodynamic counsellor and work combining the two.
What does this look like in sessions?
I do not offer advice or instructions and I do not prescribe medication nor diagnose.
Person centred -
As a Person-Centred counsellor, I offer a warm, respectful, confidential environment, free from judgement or preconceptions, where clients can safely explore their deepest feelings. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives and experience and are therefore capable of finding their own solutions.
Person-centred counselling focuses on working with your emotions and the collaborative relationship with your counsellor exploring and challenging your values and the different parts of yourself so that you are able to increase your self-esteem, live more congruently and in line with what you deem to be your ideal self.
Psychodynamic -
As a Psychodynamic counsellor I listen to what you have to say. Working with imagery and dream analysis, exploring your defence mechanisms, making connections with your history and exploring how your past impacts your present and patterns of relating so that you gain a greater awareness of self, working towards a more fulfilling way of being.
